About Historical Archive Research Appointment
The Rare Books and Historical Archives Branch Directorate operates on the Kandilli campus. Researchers who are not Boğaziçi University members must make an appointment request in advance in order to enter the campus with their IDs.

TERMS OF USE OF HISTORICAL ARCHIVE MATERIAL
1. Historical archives can be used by faculty members, B.U. graduate and undergraduate students (undergraduate students require a written application from their departments) and members who can borrow books.
2. The historical archive request form must be filled out completely and the date the material will be used must be stated.
3. Each user is given a maximum of 3 materials at a time.
4. The physical form of the materials that have been digitized and transferred to the website is not presented to the user.
5. Historical archives can only be used at he researcher's desk in the classification office of the Rare Books and Historical Archives Branch Directorate on the Kandilli campus.
6. This department offers servis on monday-friday between 09:30-16:00. Materials cannot be seen on saturdays and sundays. After 15:30, materials are not available. They should be returned to the librarian after use and by 16:00 at the latest.
7. No beverages, including water, can be kept on the user’s desk.
8. The researcher must not leave the material. Before leaving the hall, even for a short time, the archive material must be returned to the officer.
9. In cases where the archive material requires it, it is mandatory to wear gloves to benefit from the work. Cotton or latex gloves can be obtained from the officer.
10. Researchers cannot use any pen other than a pencil during their work. Pages cannot be turned with wet fingers or with materials such as erasers or pencils. Pages should be turned gently and bindings should not be forced.
11. Materials are given against signature, and when returning materials after use, they are checked for damage by the librarian.
12. Historical archive materials cannot be lent outside the library under any circumstances.
13. Photocopies of archive materials cannot be made.
14. Within the rules, scanning can be done with a suitable portable device or photos can be taken without flash.
15. In case of a copy request; the decision is made according to the purpose of use of the copy and whether the physical condition of the work (wear and tear, etc.) is suitable.
16. Legal action will be taken against users who do not comply with the rules.
